Who out there, among the professing, has had the most deleterious effect on the health of the body of Christ in the year 2019? Using a number of criteria Pulpit & Pen has identified a list of nominees from a pool of eligible individuals (obvious charlatans and the theologically heterodox* were not included for consideration). In 2018, Thom Rainer claimed the title of Pulpit & Pen’s “Worst Christian” of the year, beating out Danny Akin, John Crist, Greg Locke, Beth Moore, and Andy Stanley. This year Akin and Moore are once again among the nominees, along with four new faces.
Who is the worst Christian of 2019? The Nominees are as follows:
*Due to his popularity in the Reformed community, Jeff Durbin was given consideration. Since he is a theonomist, I consider him heterodox. I recognize that many of my readership would not, however, exclude Durbin from orthodoxy.
