Hillsong & Beth Moore Unite: Using Weak Women To Capture Weak Women (& others)

“so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith.”  2 Timothy 3:8 When the imprisoned, soon-to-be-martyred Paul wrote his final letter to Timothy, effectively passing the mantle of ministry to his young protégé, he warned the young disciple about the imminent persecution that would come “in the last days.” The … Read more

Kirk Cameron, Francis Chan Join Hands With Cultists to Promote False Gospel

It’s no secret that Kirk Cameron has embraced the false gospel of American Patriotism. Clearly, he’s accepted postmillennial Reconstructionist ideals of Dominionism and has been championing the cause of taking back the culture in America for several years. It’s unclear exactly how he was led down this path of patriotic idolatry, as his past associations with … Read more

A Report on The Farm League Of Prophetically Anointed Femme Fatales

One would think that with the growing, evident depravity in the world today, a “prophet to all nations” would focus her message on more spiritually profound, eternally consequential matters than calorie counting and dropping a couple of dress sizes. Something ala John The Baptist, perhaps. “Repent and believe.”  You know.  Alas, for one femme fatale … Read more

Together2016, Ann Voskamp Declare Scripture Insufficient

Pulpit & Pen recently confirmed and reported that the Pope of Rome will be joining Southern Baptist President, along with Hillsong United, Lecrae, and many other professing evangelical Christians in Washington D.C. for an ecumenical fornication-fest. The event, dubbed Together 2016, is estimated to host over 1 million attendees. Recently, a tweet appeared from Together2016’s … Read more

Cruise with a Cause: Eddie Long, John Hagee, Ergun Caner, LeCrae, and Johnny Hunt Milk the Gospel Like a Cow of Bashaan

Not content to make their livings simply preaching God’s word and providing spiritual guidance to the members of the congregations, many church pastors seek to further monetize their holy callings by participating in Christian travel offerings.  The business model is simple; pastors provide a base (their own congregation) who can purchase tickets from travel service providers in … Read more

Major Christian News Questioning Chick-Fil-A’s Gay-Affirming Sponsorship

Pulpit & Pen was the first to report on the capitulation of the evangelical community to LGBTs by their participation in Level Ground’s film festival event which seeks to find common ground between homosexuals and Christians, and ultimately normalize homosexual behavior within the church. Pulpit & Pen received quite a bit of backlash on social … Read more

Chick-Fil-A Sponsoring Gay-Affirming Level Ground Event

**Editor’s note:  As we’ve reported on a number of times, Level Ground is a gay-affirming organization that puts on events in which it purports to have a conversation with Christians about homosexuality. This event, in which well-known ERLC research fellow, Karen Swallow Prior, is closely associated with is touted as an LGBT film festival. It … Read more

War Room: A Review by Justin Peters

If you do not know the Kendrick brothers by name, you almost certainly know them by their films: Flywheel (2003),Facing the Giants (2006), Fireproof (2008), and Courageous (2011). Stephen, Alex, and Shannon Kendrick have just released their fifth faith-based film, War Room. War Room, starring popular Bible teachers Priscilla Shirer and Beth Moore, looks like it may well be the most successful of their films to date bringing in $11 million just on its opening weekend; more than triple it’s $3 million production budget.

Given the popularity of Christian themed films and the considerable buzz about this one in particular, my wife, Kathy, and I went to see War Room on the evening of September 3rd so that I could write a review. For those of you who read my review of Mark Burnett and Roma Downey’s movie, Son of God, you know that I am a bit skeptical of the Christian movie genre as a whole. Nonetheless, I do want to offer what I hope to be a fair review. This review will not touch on every single facet of the movie or even on every theme it presents, but I do hope to address what I believe to be the most important of them.

God Has Enough Rocks – Are you Still Praying for America?

“Now when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, terror and great darkness fell upon him. God said to Abram, ‘Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, where they will be enslaved and oppressed four hundred years. But I will also judge the nation whom they will serve, and afterward they … Read more

My Open Letter of Apology to the Gay Community (From A Christian)

I’m seeing quite a few open letters of apology from Christians to the gay community in light of the recent Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage. At first, I was angry. “What are we apologizing for again?!?,” I thought. As a conservative Christian, I was annoyed. It seemed – at first – to be capitulation on … Read more

Rick Warren and Joseph Prince Share Stage in Australia

Wherever there is compromise, you’ll find Rick Warren. If you can’t wait until September to see Rick Warren compromise the Gospel by co-preaching a “word from God” with a Roman Catholic priest at the World Meeting of Families, his current compromise should hold you over until then. In fact, he couldn’t find anyone to compromise … Read more

The “Gospel” Coalition to Include Non-Christians in Panel

In a post today, the Gospel Coalition laid out a defense for their inviting of TGC15 panelists who do not believe, well…the Gospel. Following the trend set by evangelical heavy-hitters including the SBC’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission and others, The Gospel Coalition is capitalizing on the controversy in Ferguson, Missouri to focus on social justice … Read more
