Clayton Jennings Makes Point to Attack Discerning Christians, Calling Them “Do Nothing Fake Christians” in Video

Just this past Saturday, February 11th, 2017 while speaking at Christian Family Church in Tampa, FL Clayton Jennings released a special announcement video on Facebook. In this short one minute & seven-second video, he jeered at and criticized discerning Christians.   What’s up everybody? I’m in Tampa, and there was supposed to be a revival … Read more

Puttin’ on the Ritz for Johnny Hunt

For Johnny Hunt’s 25th anniversary as Pastor of First Baptist Woodstock, the church staff planned a special surprise service to honor him.  As a bit of good-hearted fun, the music minister rewrote Hunt’s favorite “hymn”, Under the Boardwalk, with lyrics that made light of the pastor’s unique way of pronouncing certain words. In addition to this musical tribute, a … Read more

Hillsong: Houston IS The Problem

Brian Houston’s autobiographical fodder entitled Live Love Lead, published in 2015 by Faith Words, an indicia of Hatchette Book Group Inc (It certainly is a “hatchet” job on truth!), is hyped to be “a transformative approach to life” that will “help you navigate a faith path that is all your own.”  By implementing “his … Read more

War Room: A Review by Justin Peters

If you do not know the Kendrick brothers by name, you almost certainly know them by their films: Flywheel (2003),Facing the Giants (2006), Fireproof (2008), and Courageous (2011). Stephen, Alex, and Shannon Kendrick have just released their fifth faith-based film, War Room. War Room, starring popular Bible teachers Priscilla Shirer and Beth Moore, looks like it may well be the most successful of their films to date bringing in $11 million just on its opening weekend; more than triple it’s $3 million production budget.

Given the popularity of Christian themed films and the considerable buzz about this one in particular, my wife, Kathy, and I went to see War Room on the evening of September 3rd so that I could write a review. For those of you who read my review of Mark Burnett and Roma Downey’s movie, Son of God, you know that I am a bit skeptical of the Christian movie genre as a whole. Nonetheless, I do want to offer what I hope to be a fair review. This review will not touch on every single facet of the movie or even on every theme it presents, but I do hope to address what I believe to be the most important of them.

Addressing Critics of the Discerning – Part 1

Once in a while, I’ll have a conversation with a pastor, usually a Southern Baptist pastor, who has read some of my articles, and find it puzzling that I would be calling out such leaders as Russell Moore or Ronnie Floyd. What I often notice however, is that while most of the time this pastor … Read more
