SBC Chooses Gay-Affirming Pastor as 2020 Conference President

News Division

The Southern Baptist Convention chose David Uth, pastor of First Baptist Church in Orlando, as the president of the Pastor’s Conference for the next year’s annual meeting. Many should be reminded about who Uth is, and ask the question whether or not SBC leadership will be making strides for LGBTQ inclusion along with the rest of their latest compromises.

David Uth hosted a gay-affirming LGBTQ event in the wake of the Orlando gay night club shooting at his church, FBC Orlando. In case you have forgotten, #LoveOrlando was a gay-straight hug fest that happened at the church in the shooting’s aftermath. Taking the stage at that event was pastor Larry G. Mills, who said the following:

We’re not peculiar because of race or gender or creed. But in Orlando we are peculiar because of E. Pluribus Unum. Out of many come one. We are peculiar because we have leadership that knows how to fight….We are peculiar because we know how to let theological differences and disputes and factions not get in the way of love and Christ. We are peculiar…because we believe in the Word, and what others would have against us, what others would show as a stumbling stone, we’ve elevated to be the head of the corner, and right now, no matter what people [inaudible] might think, that LGBTQ area is the head cornerstone, and we are here to lift up and magnify, and allow them to know, that regardless of people’s opinion, regardless of where we are, love triumphs over evil.

There was no correction whatsoever (either during or after the event) of this pastor claiming that the LGBTQ “community” was the chief cornerstone. You can watch the video below.

In the wake of widespread criticism of this abominable, gay-affirming event (the church then asked homosexuals to come forward to be anointed and have hands laid upon them), David Uth prayed that God would strike discerning Christians dead if they criticized him.

You can watch Uth’s death wish upon discerners here:

Justin Peters did a three-part series on this tragedy in Orlando, which you can find here. Brannon Howse and others also made much over the event, which was absolutely inexcusable.

Uth is the same pastor who let a Seventh Day Adventist cult member preach at his church. He also complained when Ben Carson was disinvited from the 2015 Pastor’s Conference, even though Carson is an Adventist.

Now, Uth is running the conference. We’ll see what happens, but it does not bode well for the SBC. They seem to have no doctrinal standards whatsoever these days.

[Publisher’s Note: If someone wants to take exception with the claim, “gay-affirming,” we’ll ask you what’s more affirming that laying on of hands at the front of the church…1 Timothy 5:22]
