In a long stream of capitulation lately, especially in the Southern Baptist Convention, evangelicals have been salivating over the Roman Catholic presidential candidate, Marco Rubio. The ooze-fest, spearheaded by Russell Moore of the SBC’s Ethics and Religious Liberties Commission (ERLC), has led many into confusion over what Christianity is and is not. Moore has stated, despite Rubio’s blatant rejection of biblical doctrine, “Both of us are of the Christian faith.” This came not too long after SBC Voices’ Dave Miller, the “Company Man,” insisted that the papist was saved, and “sounded more like an Evangelical than a Catholic” (even though he said he’s fully theologically and doctrinally aligned with the RCC).
Many other Southern Baptists and evangelicals, including Denny Burk, Wayne Grudem, and Eric Teetsel have followed suit. Teetsel was the first “evangelical” to go to work for Rubio. He serves as the head honcho for Rubio’s faith and outreach campaign program.
Recently, author and theologian, Wayne Grudem, and Professor of History at Baylor University, Thomas Kidd, teamed up with the ecumenical henchman, Rick Warren, as well as the NAR harlequin, Samuel Rodriguez, to serve as Rubio’s religious advisors.
You would think that if these evanjellyfish had any real commitment to biblical truth, they’d “advise” Marco Rubio to repent of his idolatrous religion, and turn to Christ.
But they don’t.
What do they do instead? They knuckle under even more. Dr. Albert Mohler, president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, has just joined up with Ravi Zacharias to serve on another of Rubio’s religious boards–the “Dignity of Life Board.” Mohler, who is as solid as they come theologically, has been making quite a few reckless decisions lately, as he also recently wrote positively of the racist, Marxist, hate group, #blacklivesmatter. He writes:
If committed to the worldview of Scripture, both #BlackLivesMatter and the pro-life movement ground their moral urgency in the fact that every single human being—regardless of race, ethnicity, condition of life, or stage of development—is an image bearer of God.
Where’s the discernment? There’s no way he doesn’t know who these people are, or what they are about. So what is it that’s driving this ship of apostasy? Politics and social justice have certainly taken a front seat to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and, sadly, I believe, it’s only going to get worse.
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. – 2 Timothy 4:3-5
