Rioters who have been setting fire to buildings and businesses, not to “protest the death of Georg Floyd” but rather because they are evil men and women who finally have an excuse to manifest the darkness in their hearts, set fire to St. John’s Episcopal Church, which is right across from the White House, late Sunday night.
Known as the “church of the presidents.” St. John’s Episcopal Church was built in 1815 and every president since James Madison has attended at least one service there. There is even a designated Pew, known as the “President’s Pew,” that is reserved for the president’s use when visiting the church.
The historic Church has so frequently and tirelessly attended due to it’s proximity to the Whitehouse, and speaks to the nearness of the riots occurring.
The church had windows smashed and the fire was purposefully set in the basement. Thankfully, it was able to be extinguished. Fire department spokesman Vito Maggiolo said the blaze did not appear to cause any significant damage.
