For David Daleiden, the taste of truth and victory are sweet.
Wednesday evening, a federal judge in San Francisco announced his intent to greatly reduce Planned Parenthood’s retaliatory lawsuit against David Daleiden’s Center for Medical Progress (CMP) for their undercover videos documenting Planned Parenthood’s (PP) sale of aborted baby parts.
This ruling significantly diminishes CMP’s fines from over $20 million to less than $100,000. More than that, it signals a victory for first amendment rights. Whistle-blowers exposing the horrors of the abortion industry hold their freedom in the marketplace of ideas.
The Backstory:
Upon their release, CMP’s undercover recordings of PP directors haggling over dismembered baby parts sparked outrage. The chilling videos prompted Texas officials to investigate Planned Parenthood for violations of Texas law. But then came a perverse turn of the tables: a local grand jury indicted Daleiden instead of Planned Parenthood.
PP fabricated a smear against CMP, accusing its journalists of attempting to incite “threats” and “violence” in the videos as opposed to what they were actually up to: publishing a true news story for public awareness. In other words, when exposed for their blood-thirsty devilry, PP had but one arrow left in their quiver: “You are haters! We are all victims here!”
To add insult to injury, the judge chosen to preside over this case, Judge William Orrick III, had a long-running history of founding, promoting, and donating to a Planned Parenthood clinic in San Francisco run by the plaintiff, Planned Parenthood Northern California.
What the Courts Ruled:
As it happened, PP provided no evidence or testimony to back up either accusation against CMP. Thus, what was once an ocean of charges against Daleiden’s CMP trickled down to little more than a trespassing dispute. Orrick instructed both parties to treat this tentative ruling as if it were substantially final.
David Daleiden sums up the court victory with this statement:
“Now that all the facts, evidence and testimony are in, even Planned Parenthood’s favorite judge refuses to buy into the abortion giant’s fake news and lies about the honest motives and protected speech of pro-life citizen journalists. Planned Parenthood is a government-sponsored crime syndicate selling baby body parts like widgets on an assembly line and should only appear in federal court as a criminal defendant.”
God’s people are grateful Planned Parenthood did not silence David Daleiden’s voice. More than that, we rejoice at what his videos did to show the wicked depths of this bloodthirsty industry. Child sacrifice is a sin that defiles the very land we live in.
“You shall not behave thus toward the Lord your God, for every abominable act which the Lord hates they have done for their gods: for they even burn their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods” (Deuteronomy 12:31).
