Church of Christ: Pastor’s Grandson Charged With Stealing Thousands From Offering Plate
According to WAAY, Trip Bradley, 38-year-old grandson of Mayfair Church of Christ’s pastor, has been charged with felony theft, stealing more than $20,000 from the offering plate, and even depositing checks made out to the church into his personal bank account. Church members told police Bradley admitted in front of the church congregation that he took the money. Police are still investigating to determine whether anyone else was involved. Bradley was released from the Madison County Jail Friday morning on $30,000 bond. Court records indicate he has a felon examination hearing May 10 in Madison County Circuit Court.
The Church of Christ denomination holds to baptismal justification–that is the belief that baptism is necessary for salvation–and that they are the one true church.
