Gloria Copeland wants you to know how the health-and-wealth ‘gospel’ can heal you in seven easy steps. Sadly, she apparently did not share these steps with health-and-wealth preacher Eddie Long, who recently died of a mystery illness his family claimed was cancer. Have no fear, however, for just the low-low price of selling your soul to charismaticism, you can pink-slip your oncologist and be healed.
In a post How to Get Healed from Cancer, the professed billionaire preacher’s wife (link) explains that “Jesus has already paid the price for your healing,” misappropriating Isaiah 53 as a text about physical disease. In her attempted exposition, the impastor claims that in the verse, “Surely he hath born our griefs” that “griefs” include “sickness” and “weakness.” Of course, we know that Jesus bore the sins of all believers in his body, but there’s no reason to believe Jesus bore our cancer and every other kind of physical ailment.
Copeland then promotes faith-healing, which is what one might expect from an adherent to Word-Faith Kenyonism. She writes, “You receive anything and everything that you need from God…by faith! Faith is simply believing what God says in His Word. It means trusting what He says more than your diagnosis.” Again, finding a promise from God to all individuals that they should be healed of all diseases is not going to happen, but Copeland still makes the promise.
Copeland goes on to give more ways to get healed from cancer, and these include watching their program, Believers Voice of Victory, and going to a Gloria Copeland Healing School.
But don’t worry, because if shelling out money to Gloria’s healing school doesn’t work, she writes, “Even if you are still dealing with symptoms and pain and side effects, you can proclaim that you are healed.” They call that, “positive confession.”
The other steps include taking care of your body, praying and being nice to others.
Nothing was said of chemotherapy or radical invasive surgery…or the Gospel.
But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep (2 Peter 2).
