SBC has mainstreamed Roman Catholic mystical experiences as legitimate

I knew without a doubt that it was the same presence I had felt in the garden as a child and things were okay. – Rifqa Bary

Roman Catholic mysticism, long abhorred by Evangelicals and Protestants, is a form of “white magic” that basically mixes pagan witchcraft with Christianity, giving the outward appearance of being of God. Often times it is reported that contact has been made with benevolent entities, who claim to be Jesus, Mary, or some other angel of light, when in reality, these beings are of darkness. The Bible strictly forbids any form of contact with the spirit world, outside of direct prayer to God alone, and God’s specific revelation through Scripture alone. (Lev 19:31, etc.) However, mystical experiences are becoming more and more popular as we approach the Lord Jesus’ inevitable return.

The Cooperative Program and the Road to Serfdom by G. Seth Dunn, MAcc, CPA

PREFACE  I’m a Baptist of Baptists.  I wasn’t baby-dedicated at my church on the 8th day, but it was done within a few weeks.  I grew up in a Southern Baptist church in a family that faithfully gave.  As a carefree middle-class youth, I never knew how much was given but it made an impression … Read more

SBC Establishment Angry at those Meddling Bloggers over Ben Carson Fiasco

With the decision last week by Willy Rice (president of the 2015 SBC Pastor’s Conference) to drop Dr. Ben Carson from the speakers list, there has been some backlash from the evangelical establishment. Even Perry Noble went through an exhausting rant of unbiblical reasons why he was disappointed over the decision (although he’s hardly the establishment). Willy … Read more

Elevation Church, Greg Locke, Julie Roys, and JD Greear Were Awful While I Was Sick

In the Halcyon days of Pulpit & Pen, new articles came out every day. There were multiple writers contributing back then and if nothing was getting published JD Hall would inform us quickly that “the website was growing cobwebs”. Unfortunately, the site has had cobwebs for a few years now; it’s just me writing. Between … Read more

The Worst Christian of 2022

This entry is part 3 of 11 in the series Worst Christian of the Year

Who is the worst Christian of 2022? On the surface, this seems like a foolish or even pharisaical question. The fact of the matter is that there are none worthy to stand righteous before God except his perfect son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Former ERLC Lobbyist Endorses Democrat Joe Biden for President

I don’t like to get political on this blog. I think doing so can distract from the mission. I want people to focus on Jesus and his church. This is a polemics blog and I don’t use it to polemicize political candidates on either side. Frankly, I think many Christians are more focused on the … Read more
