Liberals, Mystics, Catholics…Oh My *UPDATED*

The speaker lineup for Liberty University’s Convocation is, well, interesting. The list includes liberals, mystics, Roman Catholics, and….Trump. As a Liberty University student, I understand the stated rationale for these guests, but I believe there is a problem in offering these individuals a venue as notable as Liberty University with which to disseminate their views. … Read more

The Blood of Catholics on Southern Baptist’s Hands

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds. – 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 As we … Read more

Southern Baptists See Catholics as Pawns in the Culture War.

In a recent series of articles on Ethika Politika, several well-known evangelicals, including Southern Baptists, wrote of what they would like from Roman Catholics. The articles, titled “What I Want From Catholics,” included a call to action for Roman Catholics to stand firm against secular cultural influences, such abortion, gay marriage–even Communism. One article particularly … Read more

Can Roman Catholics be Saved?

If you like ruffling feathers, Twitter is the place to go. It doesn’t matter what you say, or how you say it, somebody is going to disagree with you–and vehemently. This is what happened as I engaged in conversation with a Southern Baptist pastor recently on Twitter. While discussing the doctrine of the Roman Catholic … Read more

The Evangelical Counter-Reformation

If you ask the average Evangelical church-goer today what the difference is between Protestantism and Catholicism, you’re likely to get a variety of answers. Some will tell you that Catholics believe in a works salvation, but many won’t really understand what that means. Others may tell you that Catholics worship Mary and Protestants don’t. But the overwhelming majority are likely to have no idea what the difference is, and this is rather disturbing. While many of these people will be able to articulate the Gospel, Catholicism is quickly becoming seen as “just another denomination,” with some strange twists. They are no longer being seen as the counterfeit Church, the ancient enemy of the Gospel that the reformers fought so hard and gave their lives to expose and separate from. The muddying of these waters is not unaccounted for, however, and it comes as no surprise, since today we have so many Evangelicals afraid to speak out against Rome, and fornicating with her in many ways.

Pope Francis had some belittling words for any priests who chose to defy the COVID-19 lockdown orders and give the sacraments to their congregations, despite being ordered told not to by church leadership. Wokeness is a New Religion and Christians Are Converting En Masse

As a student and teacher in the counter-cult movement for many years, I have both studied and taught how new faith-systems spawn from infancy and grow into full-fledged organized religions. It is my assessment, in no uncertain terms, that what America is witnessing is the birth of a new religion that will dwarf all other … Read more
