Church Shocked to Learn Premise was Used For Impromptu Drag Show

News Division

A small church in Port Hope, Ontario was surprised to learn that a group hosted a two hours drag show on their paring lot, without their knowledge or consent.

The two-hour show, looking sparsely attended, featured performers Cheyenne Coxx, Miss J and Alex Uptight doing several musical numbers each while onlookers in camping chairs looked on and cheered.

One of the performers posted the following on their Facebook page, giving several days notice to anyone wanting to attend, but with churches under lockdown due to COVID-19, as well as the lack of publicity and visibility such a post would engender, the Church did not know about the event.

We reached out to Calvary Pentecostal Church for comment, and they said:

“We were pretty surprised on Tuesday evening to find that this event was taking place in our parking lot. We have not been accepting any bookings of our property at all since COVID-19 interrupted social gatherings back in March, and only just this past Sunday resumed gathering again for brief Sunday morning worship services. This group was there without our prior consent or knowledge.

When pressed over they would have allowed it if they knew about it in advanced, and whether or not they supported such an event from a theological perspective, they responded:

Our church definitely falls under a more conservative umbrella. More information regarding our denomination’s beliefs can be found at www.paoc.org

The drag show troupe has another show planned for July 17th at another church.
