Charismatic Makes Up “Gold Dust” (Glitter) Claim

News Division

The claim of God manifesting gold dust was popularized at Bethel Church in Redding, California. Justin Peters testifies that he knows at least one individual who is responsible for putting glitter in the vents, to cause the sign-seeking congregation to go wild in ecstatic excitement at the appearance of Mammon falling from the sky. A video was released of the manufactured “phenomenon” here. The first claim of such which we are aware was the faux-revival at Lakeland, Florida, in the services of Todd Bentley. Since Bentley started it and Bill Johnson of Bethel has regularly continued it, charismatics around the world have been making the phony claims.

The latest claim is below.

One for All Ministries,” which has as its Facebook profile photo an Anglo-Saxon Jesus, posts lots of articles from Charisma Mag and has prophetess ladies writing regularly about the nonsense that God supposedly told them. In the video above, the woman claims that her friend’s Bible was filled with “gold dust” while she was praying. Today, Gold has a spot price of roughly $1,313USD per ounce, meaning that this appears to be three or more thousand dollars of gold dust in her Bible.

But, it’s not gold dust. It’s glitter, and it came from Hobby Lobby, Wal-Mart or another retailer. This wasn’t an accident. It’s not a coincidence. This is a false teacher manufacturing a false miracle in order to deceive the elect. It has to be rejected, scorned, and called to repentance.

As GotQuestions.org writes…

The Lord God Almighty can manifest Himself in any way He chooses (Psalm 115:3). Throughout the centuries He has in fact revealed Himself to man in a variety of ways that many would consider bizarre. In the Old Testament, God spoke through a bush that did not burn up (Exodus 3:2), a pillar of fire in the wilderness (Exodus 13:21), and a cloud that covered a mountain (Exodus 24:16). He has spoken through a donkey (Numbers 22:30), the physical presence of angels (Genesis 16:11), and through some unusual object lessons in the lives of the prophets (Hosea 1:2Ezekiel 4:1–8Jeremiah 13:1–6). In the New Testament, the Holy Spirit continued His supernatural manifestations by empowering believers to speak with foreign languages they had not studied (Acts 2:4–8), heal the blind and lame (Acts 9:34), and raise the dead (Acts 9:32–41).

While God can do anything he wants, none of the Biblical examples of God’s manifestations include sprinkling glitter on people. In fact, if Moses was around, he’d make this woman boil and eat it.
