A pastor has been recorded on video beating his church members with a stick for not tithing enough. The video was first posted by Jean Ateba on Facebook. Ateba now lives in New York, New York but his Facebook page says that he’s from the African nation of Cameroon.
His post was in French, one of the two official languages in the African nation, and explains that the pastor was caning church members who were not faithful in their tithe-giving.
The New Testament teaches that financial giving to the local church should be done joyfully and without coercion (2 Corinthians 9:6-12).

This is hard, unappreciative and alienating toil...
“JD Hall and his contributors such as Seth Dunn, are almost single-handedly leading the way in a rescue attempt of conservative Evangelicalism and especially the Southern Baptist Convention.”
-Alex A. Guggenheim
