[San Francisco, CA] In surprisingly good news, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals – a famously liberal court – has voted 7-4 to allow the Trump Administration to enforce its Title X Protect Life Rule, which de-funds the abortion industry from discretionary federal funding. Injunctions were previously in place that stopped Trump from enforcing the rule but have now been lifted.
The U.S. Circuit Court rejected emergency bids to keep the injunctions in place but the issue still has yet to be decided in the Fourth Circuit and in the District Court of Maine.
Trump’s Protect Life Rule will now stop approximately 60 million in funding previously going to Planned Parenthood.
The Department of Health and Human Services established the Rule to prevent Title X federal funds from going to any organization that performs abortions or provides abortion-related services.
The Protect Life Rule was originally created by Ronald Reagan in 1988 but was overturned during the Clinton Administration. President Trump has restored it.
