[San Francisco, CA] Revoice, a pro-LGBTQ conference hosted by a Presbyterian Church of America (PCA) congregation, promised to teach us how to celebrate and redeem ‘Queer Culture.’ Is this part of it?
The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are hosting a celebration for Easter that includes cross-dressing nuns, an Eastern bonnet contest, and a fleshly bare-all called the Hunky Jesus Contest. The event is a part of their annual calendar, and they have hosted this event for several years.
Also included in the festivities is a children’s Easter Egg hunt. And for those who want to dress up as the Mother of Jesus, they also have a “Foxy Mary” contest.
As a San Francisco community website advertises, “Please bring your own trash bags to help keep the place clean and tidy. And don’t forget your snacks, drinks, sunscreen and lots of water.”
The event will include performances by the gay bands, “GayC/DC” and “SecsDevil.”
The event hosts, Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, which are an “order of leading-edge queer and trans nuns” who “believe all people have a right to express their unique joy and beauty. They have been meeting to desecrate Resurrection Sunday since 1979, and this is their 40th anniversary.
