Pastor Tim Keller of Redeemer Presbyterian Church has come out with a three-step plan to making Jesus your king. Before I tell you what they are, I’d like to remind you that this is the pastor that believes in evolution, and who’s members like to leave his congregation for the Roman Catholic church. His three steps, as he posted on Facebook are:
- trust him,
- obey him,
- expect great things from him (because apparently his work on the cross wasn’t “great” enough)
My first reaction to this would be that Jesus is not someone that we need to make our king. Not only is this an unbiblical works-based salvation, it’s borderline blasphemous to suggest that Jesus needs to be made king. Jesus Christ is King of Kings! It’s who he is–it’s his name. To suggest otherwise is to deny that.
On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords. – Revelation 19:16
