One of the most ‘woke’ leaders at the political leftist organization known as The Gospel Coalition (TGC), Ray Ortlund, recently praised Mitt Romney for voting to remove the U.S. President in the Senate impeachment trial. When he’s not busy trying to unseat POTUS, Ortlund is busy at TGC telling Christians that the Koran is the best religion book to read besides the Bible.
In a series entitled one-minute apologetics (which is about as much theology TGC has to offer), Ortlund was asked “What book other than the Bible would you give to a Christian?”
Answers could have been Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan, Morning and Evening by Charles Spurgeon, On the Bondage of the Will by Martin Luther, or The Institutes by John Calvin.
Nope. For Ray Ortlund it’s the Koran.
Quick. Everybody go buy a copy [eyeroll].
According to a 2017 study, Muslims make up only 1.1% of the U.S. population. And lest someone argues that we are about to be surrounded by Muslims any day now and better get to doing our homework, another study shows that Muslims will only comprise 2% of the U.S. population by 2050.
While someone specializing in apologetics may very well want to get around to reading the Koran, it should not be handed out to Christians like candy any more than The Book of Mormon, Mein Kampf, or the Satanic Bible.
