In the latest abortion-related news, the town of Westbrook, Texas, has declared itself a Sanctuary City for the Unborn. The initiative, founded by the East Texas Chapter of Right to Life, allows any relatives to sue abortion clinics (or anyone else responsible for the abortion, including parents) for wrongful death.
Americans are discovering the power of localism and the Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrate, flexing their muscles against the powerful federal government. By passing their own ordinances that fly in the face of federal law, towns, municipalities, and counties are out-maneuvering the special interests that control the federal courts.
The ordinance of the town, which outlaws abortion entirely, cannot be enforced criminally until Roe v Wade is overturned. However, because of the loopholes in the law, it can be enforced through civil damages which do not require support by federal law, but local law.
This means that when relatives like aunts, uncles, grandparents, and siblings find out their relative was brutally murdered by their parents and a hitman assassin abortion doctor, they can sue for the wrongful death of a family member.
This is good news.
