In a stunning story released from England, a Roman Catholic priest, Matthew Jolley, has been arrested and is in jail after soliciting a “pedophile” in order to have sexual encounters with his two-year-old child. However, the “pedophile” was not actual, but was an undercover police officer. In an intricate undercover operation, the culprit was apprehended.
News outlets have reported that in the initial conversation on social media between the priest and the policeman, it took Jolly less than 20 minutes to tell the undercover officer – posing as a 36-year-old bisexual man – that he was sexually interested in young children.
Jolley from Great Sankey, Warrington, UK was jailed for three years and four months and placed on the sex offenders register for life after pleading guilty to arranging the commission of a child sex offense.
This latest scandal that has been uncovered will no doubt heap more pressure on the Roman Catholic institution to address the problem of pedophilia within its ranks.
This is an example of the horrible intents of a fallen human’s heart. One can only be thankful that in this instance, the child was a ploy rather than a person. And, that the pedophile was a police officer rather than a pervert.
