In a bizarre reply to a fan that asked whether Hailey celebrated Halloween after the star queried her fans about what to wear on this grim holiday, She explained that she will do so as a Christian. This is not shocking, as Churches have been doing “trunk or Treat,” for years in the spirit of the cultural mania.
What is peculiar is how Hailey Bieber has personalized the holiday. And, added, “I’m a Christian. Do you have any idea what that means historically? It means I redefine everything in culture. . . . I’m not afraid of the world. I’m not afraid of any devil or demon or incantation. They are terrified of me. Halloween is now MY HOLIDAY and I am claiming all candy for the glory of God and the celebration of the Saints (emphasis in original).” Her “rant” has since been taken down.
In a defiant manner, Bieber said: “What now? I’ll dress up however I like! My favorite characters, pop culture stuff, whatever. It’s my party and you’re invited. I’m alive today and a Saint tomorrow. Give me candy.”
The well-known model, daughter of Stephen Baldwin, and her husband, Justin Bieber, attend Hillsong L.A. in California. It just may be ironic that Halloween possibly has more in common with Christianity than Hillsong does!
The October 31 connection to Christian history is where the name comes from; “All-Hallows-Eve,” the day before All Saints Day in the Roman Catholic calendar. However, true Christians that are centered in the gospel of Jesus Christ remember the date for another reason.
In 1517, on October 31, Dr. Martin Luther posted 95 theological propositions on a church door in Wittenburg, Germany. This became the catalyst of the Sixteenth Century Reformation, where the Roman Catholic system was ultimately rejected and true Christian faith was recovered.
“What is the connection?” you may ask. Well, Luther recovered the centrality of the Bible as the final authority for the Church and restored the gospel to a foundational place of prominence. The movement was immediately called, “evangelical,” the Bible’s word for gospel turned into an adjective and noun. Christians are those that believe in the gospel. True Christians have turned their backs on the Papist Roman system and its history, and how that history has degenerated into the ghastly, ghoulish, and gruesome event celebrated by the masses!
