Universal Studios recently released a trailer for the movie, “The Hunt,” originally named “Red State Vs. Blue State.” The trailer shows elites hunting and killing pro-life, Trump supporting “deplorables.”
After the recent mass shootings and outrage from the public, the studio has reconsidered release of the movie and has stopped ad campaigning.
The term “deplorables” was used by Hillary Clinton to demean and demonize Trump supporters. The Hollywood Reporter writes:
“The script for The Hunt features the red-state characters wearing trucker hats and cowboy shirts, with one bragging about owning seven guns because it’s his constitutional right. The blue-state characters—some equally adept with firearms—explain that they picked their targets because they expressed anti-choice positions”
This movie isn’t low-budget. With big-name stars such as Hilary Swank and Betty Gilpin, the film is expected to reach high numbers in the box-office. Hollywood is quick to disavow gun-violence and demand gun-control, but can turn around and star, direct, and produce a movie that encourages targeting a pro-life, Republican Trump-supporter.
