Michael Brown Affirms Kenneth Copeland as a Christian Brother

News Division

Michael Brown has published a new book, which he claims will call out the excesses of charismaticism. The book is called, Playing With Holy Fire: A Wake Up Call to the Pentecostal-Charismatic Church, and will supposedly rebuke those in charismaticism that have been polluting the bathwater, wherein supposedly soak lots of precious babies. Brown has only reluctantly and rarely mentioned any charismatic leaders who are in error, most recently mentioning Joseph Prince as an antinomian in his book, Hyper Grace, but then issued a retraction and apology to Prince after visiting with him one-on-one. The number of charismatic leaders Michael Brown has publicly corrected can be counted on one hand by a man with no fingers.

While Brown’s book is in pre-order status, many are wondering if the chief apologist of the charismatic movement will really follow through and name names. If yesterday’s Line of Fire radio show is any indication, the answer is ‘probably not.’

A cessationist called in to Line of Fire, who attends Southern Evangelical Seminary, and had a question about Brown’s “alleged support” for men like Todd White and Bill Johnson. The caller felt (rightly) that these individuals are false teachers, and Brown asked him to clarify whether he felt these teachers were “just wrong” or if they taught damnable heresies and were “bound for hell.”

Brown claimed ignorance regarding White (again) and defended Kenneth Copeland and Bill Johnson as  brothers-in-Christ. You can watch the video below.

For (just some of the) problems with Kenneth Copeland, watch the video below.

Copeland teaches “little god” theology, in which he claims that we are divine in every sense that Jesus was. Not only does he teach the prosperity gospel and has built a billion (yes – with a B) dollar, tax-free empire with private jets and mansions by promising people a seed-faith return on their income, but he has embraced the Roman Pontiff, given proveably false prophecy, and said lots and lots of insane things.

The logic works like this; if Michael Brown thinks Kenneth Copeland is a Christian, he doesn’t know a thing about Christianity. While Brown was willing to go on record against the Prosperity Gospel, he seemed indifferent to the fact that the Prosperity Gospel is what Kenneth Copeland teaches. Copeland teaches even what to Michael Brown is a false gospel, and yet he warmly embraces him in the Lord. Such ought not be.

I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. – Romans 16:17

If Kenneth Copeland doesn’t make Brown’s list of false teachers in his new book, who will?
