Remember those days when you used to be able to walk into any church and hear a pastor open the Scriptures and preach? Yeah, I don’t either. It’s been a long time. The modern visible Church is a mere mockery of the Bride of Christ and all that He has set forth in her.
Elevation Church is a prime example of the downgrade that has taken over what we used to hold as sacred.
This past week, Elevation Church, misled by Steven Furtick, wrapped up what they call the Code Orange Revival–what we at Pulpit & Pen call the Ten Day Heresy Parade. Furtick has brought in some of the world’s top false teachers, from as far away as Australia, to narcissistically eisegete the Scriptures to fit their bad theology.
It’s bad enough that all of these false teachers actually believe that the Bible is about them, but perhaps the most flagrant female false teacher of all time, Joyce Meyer, wanted to step it up a notch.
Joyce Meyer–aka, the Joker–opened up her evening of evangelical error with nothing less than a great, God-glorifying sex joke. With all the applause she drew from the crowd, you could only imagine God sitting up there in Heaven, next to His Son, just falling out of their thrones, and rolling on the floor with laughter.
I mean, it was hilarious. You gotta see it for yourself.
Actually, I really don’t think God is laughing at this. “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. (Galatians 6:7 ESV)” Those who revel in this filth will be dealt with. God hates sin and he hates sexual immorality. God does not make exceptions for entertainment purposes.
If you think God is glorified when we joke about sin, you need to read your Bible. Further, if you are attracted to, or drawn to this toilet humor, you need to either get saved or get right with God, because His Son didn’t die on the cross to free you from the bondage of sin simply so you could make merry with it.
Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. – Galatians 5:19-21
