A former Dayton volunteer church bus driver pleaded guilty in federal court this morning to sexually abusing a minor under the age of 12.
Jory Leedy, 49, of Franklin was scheduled to go to trial in Cincinnati’s U.S. District Court. He had been indicted in April 2016 for sex crimes against two boys 7 and 8 years old, according to court documents.
Leedy volunteered to drive a bus for Target Dayton Ministries. He quit that job after meeting the victims and their mother, according to court documents, which said Leedy went to the boys’ home on a nightly basis and bought them clothes.
Prosecutors said Leedy made himself part of the family and took the boys to Cincinnati to Reds games, the zoo and to Kings Island plus trips for religious concerts and even to Disney World.
Documents also said Leedy arraigned for the purchase of a car for the family, helped the boys enroll in a private school and paid for rent for the family.
Prosecutors said Leedy gave the victims’ family a fake name and that Leedy’s identity was discovered during an altercation with the victims’ father in which the police were called. Police advised the parents of Leedy’s true identity and that he was a registered sex offender.
The abuse took place over two years and happened in multiple states including Kentucky, Florida and New York, according to a release.
