On giving a false hope to those hopelessly lost in a works-based religion that has no power to save. It was several years ago when Albert Mohler, president of the most prominent Southern Baptist Seminary, first stated that he believed there would be “millions of Catholics” in Heaven. It matters not that the doctrines of Roman Catholicism are designed to forbid one from believing the true Gospel. It apparently matters not to him that the Holy Spirit, when He saves us, promises to sanctify us in Christ Jesus–drawing us away from sin and conforming us to His image. This cannot happen in the Roman Catholic system. Roman Catholics who are saved are saved out of this false system of hopelessness, idolatry, and outright Paganism.
Now, Robert Jeffress, pastor of First Baptist Dallas, recently made a nearly identical remark, stating that he believes “there will be millions of Catholics in Heaven because they have trusted in Jesus.”

“Millions” is quite a stretch. A handful–maybe. Those who have been saved, but passed before sanctification completely removed them from the church, perhaps. But “millions?”
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. – 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
Scripture is clear that those who remain in idolatry, the very definition of the Roman Catholic Church and everything they practice, will not see the Kingdom of God. In other words, if you’ve repented of your sin and have been saved, you have been saved from your sin and desire no longer to practice it.
Men like Robert Jeffress and Al Mohler are giving Roman Catholics a false hope while discouraging evangelism among a vast mission field right under our noses.
