Who is the worst Christian of 2024?
On the surface, this seems like a foolish or even pharisaical question. The fact of the matter is that there are none worthy to stand righteous before God except his perfect son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Every believer struggles with sin every day and will continue to do so until the Lord returns and raises us anew in glory. None of us are really better than another. Yet, we can still fairly ask and answer, “Who is the worst Christian of 2024” if we consider the question in terms of an individual’s influence on the visible church at large. Who out there, among the professing, has had the most deleterious effect on the health of the body of Christ in the year 2024? Using a number of criteria and identifying candidates from a pool of nominees (obvious charlatans and the theologically heterodox were not included for consideration), I have come up with one professing Christian who can fairly be considered “The Worst Christian of 2024.”
Who is the worst Christian of 2024? The Nominees were as follows:
Nominated for: Accepting a regular, vocational pulpit teaching role at Trinity Church without being a church member, engaging in a five-year long “inappropriate relationship” with a young woman while serving as Seminary Dean and popular Christian speaker.
Nominated for: Advocating for the use of fetal tissue from aborted babies in scientific research, Advocating for church closures after the outbreak of COVID
Nominated for: Suing the Southern Baptist Convention after the SBC funded an investigation that revealed his adulterous actions and led to his dismissal from SBC Employment
Nominated for: Deceiving church members, denominational takeover, advocating aberant social justice teaching
After careful consideration of the use of power, influence, responsibility, and the expression of theology, I hereby bestow the title of “Worst Christian of 2024” to David Platt.
Dr. Platt,
You are the worst Christian of 2024.
All the reformed people who read this blog were thinking Steve Lawson, but let’s face it, he didn’t steal a church. That’s basically what you’ve done at McClean Bible in a conniving and cowardly fashion. Frankly, you’re dishonest.
But lots of big time preachers are liars, more story tellers than men of of God. Ergun Caner comes to mind, but at least he isn’t BLM-level woke. You are. So, not only have you deceived a church and run off members acting in good faith, you’ve led it left. When people think of you and “secret church”, they shouldn’t think of doctrinal teaching, they should think of you playing the dirty SBC politics you used to condemn. David, this is the most disappointing Worst Christian of the Year piece I’ve ever written. I’m an NOBTS alum. You are supposed to be the best graduate our school ever turned out. You’re just a weepy phony shilling sermons, no different than any other greedy SBC mega man, another shepherd for sale.
