Since the days of Ken Silva at Apprising.Org, a necessary and growing ministry of discernment has developed online, the very place where false teachers now congregate and propagate their heresies. The most respectable discernment ministers, also known as polemicists, have worked tirelessly to help equip local churches to combat the onslaught of heresy in the information age. We have risen to the challenge of warning the church of dangers in a new battlefield, one in which cults can arise as quickly as web domains can be purchased.
However, the work of the Lord is always counterfeited by the devil. Although there is biblical evangelism, there are fake evangelists. Although there is biblical teaching, there are false teachers. Although there are biblical mercy ministries, there are scam artists. And although there are biblical discernment ministries, there is Servus Christi.
Biblical discernment ministers belong to local churches and desire to help Christians ‘train the powers of their discernment in constant practice’ (Hebrews 5:14) to edify the local church (1 Corinthians 14:12). Servetus Christi, whose real name (might be) Joshua Chavez, has built his so-called ministry outside of the local church and it exists to tear-down, harm, and afflict local churches. His goal is – and has always been – to drag as many people out of churches as is humanly possible. He fits the description of those wolves who come in sheep’s clothing, masquerading as Christians, but desire to do us harm (Matthew 7:15).
One mark of false teachers is their proclivity at projecting righteousness but being morally destitute. Paul describes false teachers to Timothy as those who have the form of godliness, but who deny its power (2 Timothy 3:5).
But perhaps the best verse to describe Joshua Chavez is this…
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ (Jude 1:4).
Pulpit & Pen has had the unfortunate but necessary duty over the years of exposing preachers who engage in unbridled sensuality and personal debauchery. From Clayton Jennings (who used his ministry to create a personal harem) to Greg Locke (who put away his wife to marry his secretary) to Jerry Falwell Jr. (who was most recently exposed by Pulpit & Pen), sometimes our job is to expose the worst of sub-Christian hypocrites. We do not revel in it, but we will not flinch in our task at protecting the people of God.
Information made available to Pulpit & Pen has demonstrated that aside from Servetus Christi’s schismaticism, he has also engaged in the most egregious, personally immoral, predatory, and debased behavior that simply must be exposed. He has done so, all the while, carrying out attacks against some of Christianity’s most faithful ministers, but simultaneously living a private life of dreadful unrepentant sin.
Furthermore, Chavez’ sins have been excused, covered-up, and enabled by Jacob Prasch’s Moriel Ministries. They also must be called to account for letting Christi cause a multi-continental carnage of sin under the banner of their ministry.
We’ll expose Chavez this Monday at 6PM Mountain Time. Might our holy God bring him to repentance, after first bringing him to justice.
