A man of deep and sincere Christian faith, Vice President Mike Pence, is urging Christians to financially support their church through this time of crisis. Pence seems aware that America will not recover merely by the help of the federal government. It will take an entire army of faithful, local churches supporting the “least of these” in their community. For them to do that work, they can’t “go under” financially.
In a White House press briefing on Sunday, Mike Pence told the faithful how important it is to support their church at a time like this.
Knowing that churches would be affected financially as hard as anyone else, Pence said, ““Making the hard choice to suspend services, to have online services, even while those ministries are continuing to support food banks and come alongside of the most vulnerable.”
He continued to remind people “that on the weekends that you’re not in the pews, it’s still a good idea, if you can, to go ahead and make that donation…all the ministries are continuing to play a vital role in our communities and we encourage your continued support.”
This is a helpful reminder for Christians to support their congregations and the work of their church. They are the lifeblood of America, the bride of Christ, and an essential component in coronavirus financial recovery.
