Farewell Mini AOC. You taught us well.
The parents of the delightfully gifted ‘Mini AOC’ chose to shut down all her social media accounts after receiving multiple death threats from leftists for her hilarious impersonations of Democrat Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Earlier this year, Ava Martinez, the 8-year-old child actor from Rancho Santa Margarita, California, found a way to bring laughter and innocent fun to fans across the country. Martinez produced impersonations of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that sparkled for their AOC-likeness and poignant wit.
The videos had recently become a viral hit. Fans eagerly clicked to hear a lip-stick smeared little girl with glasses the size of Manhattan quip:
“I’m going to talk about like the three branches of the U.S. government: “The Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria”
In another video, Martinez made an urgent appeal for everyone in Washington to PLEASE “watch the most important documentary on climate change. It’s called Ice Age 2: the meltdown.”
Of course the sting behind all this innocent fun wasn’t rocket surgery: We all understood how much better off our country would be if mini AOC and her brash doppelgänger could only swap seats for a day.
The sting wasn’t lost on leftists either.
Martinez’s stepfather, Salvatore Schachter, relayed in a tweet this past week:
“The Left’s harassment and death threats have gone too far for our family. We have been getting calls on our personal phone numbers.”
Mini AOC’s videos received mostly positive feedback until her recent impersonation of AOC at the Mexican border touched a nerve. When the family began receiving death threats on their personal phones, they intervened by removing their daughter’s videos from online and shutting down all her social media accounts.
Meanwhile, the life-sized AOC goes on, shrill and ignorant.
Her proposed Green New Deal demanded us all to take the threat of climate change with the utmost seriousness and take draconian measures to save our lives. Never mind that all power and money be handed over to a god-like socialist state. These are war-like times.
To those trying to undo western civilization, the only humor permitted is “the crackling of thorns under a pot”—the meaningless laughter of fools (Ecclesiastes 7:6). No intelligent upstarts allowed.
We have more than laughs to gain from Mini AOC.
She was on to something our fathers in the faith knew well.
Luther famously said, “The best way to drive out the devil, if he will not yield to texts of Scripture, is to jeer and flout him, for he cannot bear scorn.” Similarly, Thomas More wrote, “The devil…that proud spirit…cannot endure to be mocked.”
John Calvin put it best:
“The most audacious despiser of God is most easily disturbed, trembling at the sound of a falling leaf.”
Mini AOC, we will miss your brilliant humor, but we will endeavor to imitate your delightful tactics in the battle for what is right and good. Your brief moment on the stage inspired us.
We will follow that sage advice you offer as your favorite motto and admonition:
“Try using your words.”
