Azusa Pacific University is quickly becoming Apostasy U.
Last week Dr. Kevin Mannoia, Azusa Pacific University (APU) chaplain and the former head of the National Association of Evangelicals, disgraced his calling with his political pandering to the LGBTQ lobbyists in California.
Monday, the California State Assembly passed ACR 99, a resolution calling for religious leaders to accept homosexuality and “transgenderism.” ACR 99 particularly condemns Christian efforts to help those with unwanted same-sex attraction or gender confusion as “ineffective, unethical and harmful.”
But conversion therapy is already illegal for secular institutions in the state of California and has been since 2012. This resolution paves the way for penalizing religious organizations in California. It is a direct violation of First Amendment rights.
Dr. Kevin Mannoia played the Evangelical LGBTQ puppet and wrote: “On behalf of some Christian pastors and church leaders, I write to express various levels of support for the Resolution ACR 99 dealing with Conversion Therapy and LGBTQ persons.”
His forked tongued letter also expressed his commitment to “ministry in the name of Jesus Christ rooted in the Bible as God’s Word.” Thus the “Christian” leader baptized his treachery with false Evangelical verbiage, to the effect of furthering religious persecution.
God is not mocked.
“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and shrewd in their own sight” (Isaiah 5:20-21).
Not many months ago, Azusa Pacific University’s handbook specifically removed language that barred LGBTQ relationships as part of a standing ban on pre-marital sex.” That would be the third time this year the Christian University changed its policy on homosexual romantic relationships.
The University ultimately caved when a group of about two hundred students gathered “in support of LGBTQ students who may have been hurting as a result of the reinstatement of the ban (against homosexual relationships).” Even two professors stood with the group to offer “prayers.” This, at a university with a Wesleyan heritage that has always emphasized holiness. They ought to have been shown the gate, every one of them.
“Christian Evangelical Identity” isn’t what it used to be.
The school announced that the “APU community remains unequivocally Biblical in our Christian evangelical identity.” Except, the Bible calls what they have endorsed and embraced an abomination.
An increasing number of “Christian” colleges have already given way to open apostasy and perversion. The LGBTQ crowd advances militantly. “Biblical” becomes a sanctimonious word with no meaning at all.
Christian Universities who rely on secular accreditation and tax exemption stand poised to take a beating from the expanding armies of homo-fascism. Azusa was not first to fall. Time will tell whether other Universities such as Liberty, Geneva, and Cedarville will stand.
