Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez launches campaign to force Americans to pay for abortions due to income inequality.
National Review reports the congresswoman began a petition over the weekend to repeal the Hyde Amendment with public support. The Hyde Amendment prohibits taxpayer funded abortions to be paid by Medicaid.
Ocasio-Cortex says, “The Hyde Amendment isn’t about abortion per se, the Hyde Amendment is truly about equality of healthcare and healthcare access for low income women and women of color and women that get caught in our mass incarceration system.”
This amendment is part of a bigger picture, although the Hyde Amendment has strong bipartisan support, Democrats are pushing to end it. The Democratic Party calls for its repeal and every major Dem. presidential candidate supports its removal as well.
Trying to make the Hyde Amendment seem like it is about equality for low-income families AOC said:
“And so the Hyde amendment is about income inequality and it’s about women’s healthcare in a system of income inequality. So I think that we need to repeal it.”
Framing abortion as a low-income inequality issue is not new to the democratic party. As Ocasio-Cortez mentioned women of color in the statement above, the dark truth of Planned Parenthood and the predatory exploitation towards women of color are the facts.
79% of Planned Parenthood clinics are located within walking distance of African-American and Latino communities. Planned Parenthood has a “Planned Parenthood Black Community” Twitter account and tweeted on October 31st, 2017, “If you’re a Black woman in America, it’s statistically safer to have an abortion than to carry a pregnancy to term or give birth.” The account exists primarily to convince black women to abort their children, Margaret Sanger, the eugenicist, would be so proud.
Democrats have targeted the African-American population like this recently. Cory Booker, presidential hopeful, claimed [In regards to the Hyde amendment] “that is an assault on African American women, too.” Planned Parenthood’s disproportionate attacks on women of color is largely ignored by Democrats to further push the narrative that Planned Parenthood and abortion clinics around the U.S. are supportive of women of color. That could not be further from the truth.
