According to the Azusa website, the Seymour Award “is given to a senior leader in ministry who exhibits the characteristics of the Lord’s humble servant, Bishop William J. Seymour.” This year, the award will be presented to the false teacher and denier of the Trinity, Bishop T.D. Jakes of the Potter’s House.
The Christian Newswire reports,
Fred and Wilma Berry founders of the Azusa Street Mission & Historical Society have been awarding pastors and leaders the William J. Seymour Award since 2006. Prior recipients of the W.J. Seymour award have been: Bishop Charles E. Blake, the COGIC presiding Bishop USA; Pastor Sunday Adelaja, from Kiev, Ukraine; Dr. Patricia Bailey-Jones USA; Apostle John Eckhardt USA; Dr. Myles Munroe from Nassau, Bahamas; and Apostle Sam Korankye Ankrah from Accra, Ghana; Pastor Jabes de Alencar Sao Paulo, Brazil; Pastor Silas Malafaia in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Al Hollingsworth of Boss the Movement and Lou Engle of TheCall!
The highly charismatic Pentecostal William J. Seymour taught traveled the world teaching that the Holy Spirit still baptizes people with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
T.D. Jakes is best known for false teaching on the Trinity. He teaches a heresy known as modalism, which denies the biblical teaching of One God, Three Persons, and instead replaces three distinct persons with three separate manifestations. From his ministry’s website, the Statement of Faith reads:
There is one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in three manifestations: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
This is pure heresy. God does not exist in three manifestations–they are three distinct persons. Further, Jakes teaches a popular heresy known as Word of Faith, and regularly partners with other false teachers, while fleecing his congregation for every penny possible.
The Azusafest will be held in conjunction with the AzusaNow celebration in Los Angeles on April 9. Pulpit & Pen has already reported that false teacher Lou Engle along with Greg Laurie (who will be a featured speaker at the 2016 Southern Baptist Pastor’s Conference ) will be together at the ecumenical event designed to unite professing Christians across denominational lines. The fact that Jakes is receiving this award comes as no surprise, as he fits right in with the list of Gospel compromisers attending and participating at the Azusa event.
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. – 2 Timothy 4:3-4
