Leading Democratic presidential contender, Joe Biden (D-PA) swore several times at a Detroit autoworker who asked the candidate why he was trying to take away guns. Although his profanity-laced attacks on his voting base have received most of the press attention, gun-owners are raising an eyebrow at his astoundingly out-of-touch understand of firearms basics.
While visiting a Detroit automobile plant, a worker made the accusation to Biden, “You are actively trying to diminish our second amendment right and take away our guns.”
Biden looked up from his phone and said, “You’re full of [redacted].” He added, “I support the second amendment.”- Advertisement –
As reported by the Montana Daily Gazette, however, Biden had promised to put Beto O’Rourke in charge of his gun confiscation plan. O’Rouke had promised to confiscate firearms from law-abiding citizens.
Biden said, “From the very beginning, I have a shotgun, I have a 20 gauge, a 12 gauge, my son’s hunt. I’m not taking your gun away at all.”
Of course, the Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting. Nonetheless, Biden thought it worth mentioning.
But then Biden added, “If you need 100 rounds,” before being distracted. He then mentioned, “AR-14’s” before being interrupted.- Advertisement –
The weapon at the center of the gun control controversy is an AR-15, a semi-automatic civilian sporting rifle commonly used for hunting, predator control, and self-defense. It is not an “AR-14.”
“Look, here’s the deal, here’s the deal,” Biden said. “Are you able to own a machine gun? Under the law?”
“Machine guns are illegal,” the autoworker responded, before trying to explain that the AR-15 was a semi-automatic rifle and not a “machine gun.”
“That’s right. So are AR-15’s illegal,” Biden said.
