Rep. Ken Buck (R) of Colorado has what he calls a “patriotic paper-weight” in his office. It’s a star-spangled AR-15 rifle with a trigger-lock installed and the firing pin removed. In dramatic fashion, he told Joe Biden and Beto O’Rourke (who will be heading up Biden’s gun-control efforts) to “come and get it.”
Posing by his AR-15, Rep. Buck said, “I have a message for Joe Biden and Beto O’Rourke. If you want to take everyone’s AR-15s in America, why don’t you swing by my office in Washington, DC, and start with this one.”
Ordinary citizens cannot have a firearm on capitol grounds, but U.S. capitol police clarified to the press after Buck’s remarks that lawmakers “may maintain a firearm within the confines of their office, properly secured.”
Rep. Judy Chu of California claimed that Buck’s words were a “threat to shoot politicians he disagrees with.”
He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one (Luke 22:36)
Verily verily, I say unto thee, Democrats shall complain about it.
