The “woke” establishment that has successfully harangued control away from conservatives in the Southern Baptist Convention are shaking in their boots over the SBC Executive Committee announcing an investigation into the leftist social engineering organization, the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC).
And fear makes people do pretty funny things sometimes.
SBC leftists are livid that alternative Christian news outlets like Pulpit & Pen, Reformation Charlotte, and the Capstone Report have so greatly affected financial giving to the Cooperative Program that it has given the Executive Committee reason to superficially appease them by looking into Russell Moore’s activities and evaluating if it is helping or hurting the Convention.
The leader of the ad-hoc investigatory panel said as much, claiming, “A lot of people believe things that are on dubious blogs, and that even affects and suppresses Cooperative Program giving.”
The soy-mustached latte mafia should stop and consider the ad-hoc investigator chairman presumes – from the start – that this is the consequence of “dubious blogs.” Clearly, this will ultimately be an investigation of what they’ll determine is “fake news” and will end with a lecture to Southern Baptists about their online behavior and information consumption.
This is Big Eva investigating Big Eva. This is the Evangelical Intelligentsia investigating the Evangelical Intelligentsia. This is Executive Committee Ronnie Floyd – who only a day before the pronouncement declared definitively “the SBC is not going liberal” – investigating who he has already declared isn’t going liberal. It will amount to nothing and the ERLC fanboys have nothing to be concerned about.
However, they’re going nuts. Crazy. Certifiable.
The best conspiracy theory to date is that concerns over the ERLC’s liberalism is instigated by or done on behalf of President Donald J. Trump.
Consider this claim by ERLC’s Manchurian blog, SBC Voices founder, Dave Miller…
While Trump indeed called Russell Moore a “very nasty guy with no heart” for being a constant opponent in 2016, POTUS is probably not instigating a Southern Baptist uprising.
This idea was promoted in an article only an hour ago by the trash blog, Religion News Service, which is funded by progressive dark money grants including funding by the LGBTQ Arcus Foundation, the Lilly Foundation, and the Associated Press. That article also laughably claimed Trump was at the center of the controversy.
In the last 24-36 hours, the idea has repeatedly been posited by Russell Moore toadies in social media that the real cause is Donald Trump, who they despise with the fiery hatred of a million burning suns.
In reality, it’s about the years of documented theological liberalism, egalitarianism, Cultural Marxism, Critical Theory, and communitarianism pushed by the ERLC’s Russell Moore.
Oh, and the Russians. It’s probably the Russians.
