Trump the Hero: “All children – born and unborn – are made in the holy image of God”

News Division

Donald Trump is likely not a born-again Christian. Nonetheless, Trump is proving to be one of the most unlikely advocates of born-again Christians the political realm has seen in many years.

Claiming to have never asked forgiveness, with rumors circulating that his conversion experience was mediated by charismatic false-prophetess, Paula White, and demonstrating the personal sexual ethic of well, Paula White, Trump’s credentials as a practitioner of Christianity theologically or ethically are dubious. However, Trump’s latest words regarding abortion demonstrate a desire – perhaps noble, perhaps political – to appeal to a Judeo-Christian ethic when it comes to setting public policy.

Delivering the State of the Union address, President Donald J. Trump declared the personhood of the unborn and castigated efforts to legalize infanticide up to the point of birth.

Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life. And let us reaffirm a fundamental truth: all children – born and unborn – are made in the holy image of God.

Democrats sat coldly in apathy to human suffering and the tragic loss of life perpetrated at the hands of the abortion industry and wicked parents.

Trump said, “To defend the dignity of every person, I am asking the Congress to pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother’s womb.”

No doubt, the pledge to work for a bill outlawing infanticide in the third trimester will galvanize support for him among social conservatives who may be equally appalled at his own personal behavior.

While Democrats don’t seem to understand evangelical support for Trump given his lifetime pattern of sinful behavior, there’s not much about Christianity that Democrats do understand.

In reality, evangelicals are informed and capable of holding nuanced positions and have made a calculated decision in the realm of ethics regarding the conflict between public well-being and personal loathsomeness. The bulk of evangelicals have made the conscientious decision to enshrine in power a deeply flawed man who at least is not so flawed as to approve of societal evils like human abortion.

Trump continued, “Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb moments before birth. These are living, feeling, beautiful babies who will never get the chance to share their love and dreams with the world.”

Planned Parenthood soon thereafter tweeted that his statements were, “ridiculous.”

Evangelicals have a different opinion. With the exception of the SBC’s Russell Moore and ‘woke’ Social Justice Warriors like Thabiti Anyabwile, we’re with him politically, even while we pray for his salvation personally.
