Charisma Mag Promotes Astrology (Again)

Brandon Hines

Charisma Mag has released an article explaining what the constellation Aquarius has to say about Pentecost and the End Times. The article was written by Ron Allen, who is the founder of the International Star Bible Society, an entire self-proclaimed ministry that is dedicated to Astrology, and the Emancipation Network, a network dedicated to the spread the Prosperity Gospel by claiming that faith is the key to living a “successful life”. Allen claims in this article,

“Aquarius is the sixth chapter of the star Bible, a picture of a man pouring out an urn of water. Aquarius comes after the constellation Capricorn (the goat) which pictures the sacrificial death and resurrection of Christ. After his resurrection, Christ told his followers to wait for him in Jerusalem to receive the Holy Spirit. Aquarius shows the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, often represented by water, that began on Pentecost in Jerusalem. This is the real Age of Aquarius.”

There is no Biblical basis for any of these claims. Not a single text of Scripture indicates that these constellations have anything to do with the events recorded in the Gospels and Acts. However, Allen continues to explain a connection between the stars and the End Times by saying,

“As we look forward to the return of Christ, we also note that Aquarius moves into the spring season when all four seasonal signs change in 2121 A.D. We are reminded that the church age, represented by the current occupant of the spring equinox, Pisces (the fish), will end when Christ returns, and we will worship God in Jerusalem as the water of Aquarius pours out of the temple.”

There is equally as little of a Biblical basis for a connection to these constellations and the return of Jesus. The Bible explicitly forbids the practices of Omen Interpretation and Divination in Deuteronomy 18:10-14 (ESV),

There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you. You shall be blameless before the Lord your God, for these nations, which you are about to dispossess, listen to fortune-tellers and to diviners. But as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do this.”

In Isaiah 47:13-14 (ESV), judgement is pronounced specifically on those who practice astrology.

“You are wearied with your many counsels; let them stand forth and save you, those who divide the heavens, who gaze at the stars, who at the new moons make known what shall come upon you. Behold, they are like stubble; the fire consumes them; they cannot deliver themselves from the power of the flame. No coal for warming oneself is this, no fire to sit before!”

This is not the first time Charisma Mag has strayed from the word of God to promote Astrology. In 2016, Rod Parsley wrote an article for the site promoting John Hagee’s blood moon prediction. Later in 2016, they started to publish a 13 part series by Bethany Blankley about what they deemed “God’s Zodiac” and “The Gospel in the Stars”. It should not come as a shock that Charisma Mag has continued this trend of embracing Astrology over the word of God.

In reference to Allen’s article, Dan Phillips noted that Aquarius teaches nothing about Pentecost or the End Times, but “The fact that the leading Charismatic [magazine] would imagine so teaches a LOT about Charismaticism.” (Source) It is telling that Charismatics abroad would embrace a practice so explicitly forbidden in Scripture. However, it is not shocking as they have already rejected its sufficiency for the sake of their own experiences. In these modern times, it appears Charismatics will look to anywhere but the Bible to try and get revelation from God.
