#StillProtesting: Why We Still Resist the AntiChrist of Rome

News Division

This is a picture of me, having tacked the 95 Theses on the door of the Cathedral of St. Helena, Helena Montana. I am #stillprotesting.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the Head of the church, in whom, by the appointment of the Father, all power for the calling, institution, order or government of the church, is invested in a supreme and sovereign manner; neither can the Pope of Rome in any sense be head thereof, but is that antichrist, that man of sin, and son of perdition, that exalteth himself in the church against Christ, and all that is called God; whom the Lord shall destroy with the brightness of his coming. – 2nd London Baptist Confession (1689) Chapter 26, Article 4

This Tuesday, the man who claims to be Vicar of Christ on Earth – a term used by the Roman Catholic Church since the 5th century – will be visiting the United States. Calling himself the Vicar (from the latin vicarious, IE “instead of”) of Christ, Pope Francis assumes the role of the One who came after Christ and in his stead, the Holy Spirit. His title, Pope (from the latin papa, IE “father”) or “Holy Father,” usurps the identity of God the Father. Setting his throne upon the doctrine of Papal Supremacy, the Pope usurps the role of Christ as head of the church. His throne of stolen, counterfeit authority rests upon the city of seven hills, as prophesied by John the Revelator. The Pope opposes the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and has replaced the Good News of salvation by grace through faith alone with the works-righteous, unclean menstrual blood of a promiscuous harlot. He is the Son of Perdition and Man of Lawlessness. And this week, that sacrilegious, heaping stench of blasphemy will be coming to America.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am a Protestant who is still protesting. So long as the Roman harlot rides upon her seven-headed beast, covered in idols and rosary beads, the Reformation is not, nor will it ever be, over.

Arguments abound as to whether the so-called Bishop of Rome is the eschatological antichrist, the one whose mark is 666 and will appear in the tribulation period to persecute the church. Given your eschatological position, you may agree or disagree. Perhaps, as some have argued, the usurper of Christ in a pagan priest’s hat is only one of many antichrists who have gone out into the world (1 John 2:18-22). And although I personally believe there is one yet coming, given my intentionally vague end-times view, who may or may not hold the office of Pope, there is enough martyrs’ blood at the feet of the papacy to cry out, “Anti-Christ!” at his arrival upon our shore. I do not overstate this truth – the Roman Catholic Church has drawn more people away from the One True God through their perverse and blasphemous mass than any false religion in the history of man. I believe that detestable mass to be more blasphemous and abominable to God than that of the satanists’ Black Mass, for the only thing worse blaspheming God is blaspheming God under the guise of a Christian church.

I am not alone in my repulsion of the so-called Catholic Church. I stand on the shoulders of the brightest and greatest lights of Christendom post the apostolic age. Reformers like Luther, Melancthton, Zwingli, Calvin and Knox were all very clear in their discourse that the Pope was antichrist. That Prince of Preachers, Charles Spurgeon, was no less easy upon that usurper of Christ…

“The Protestantism of England is the pay-master of the Pope. I am ashamed that sons of the Reformers… should bow themselves before the beast, and give so much as a single farthing to the shrine of the devil’s firstborn son. Take heed to yourselves, ye Protestants, lest ye be partakers of her plagues; touch her not, lest ye be defiled. Give a drachm to her, or a grain of incense to her censors, ye shall be partakers of her adulteries and partakers of her plagues. Every time you pass the house of Popery let a curse light upon her head: Thus saith the Lord:—‘Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities”

As this beast in a white gown, like a promiscuous prostitute who in a cruel sense of irony intent on profaning marriage by attending a mock ceremony in a white wedding dress despite her sexual sin, steps foot in this nation, I will protest him. I will protest him and his anti-church for every idol of a crucified Christ they hang on their walls, for every false god they’ve christened a saint, for every lie of purgatory they’ve told to extort the world’s poor, for every mass that profanes the body and blood of our savior, for every loved one and neighbor who clutches the rosary on their way to hell.

It should be an interesting week.
