Rick Warren and Joseph Prince Share Stage in Australia

News Division

Wherever there is compromise, you’ll find Rick Warren. If you can’t wait until September to see Rick Warren compromise the Gospel by co-preaching a “word from God” with a Roman Catholic priest at the World Meeting of Families, his current compromise should hold you over until then. In fact, he couldn’t find anyone to compromise the Gospel with in his own country, so he took to Sydney, Australia, to the Hillsong Word of Faith conference, to share a platform with Word of Faith Prosperity heretic, Joseph Prince. Among other speakers at the conference are Judah Smith, Jentezen Franklin, and John C. Maxwell.

All of these speakers are Word of Faith heretics, and preach a false gospel, yet, Rick Warren continues to align himself with them. According to the conference website, the event, titled “Speak, We’re Listening” is about hearing directly from God. Hillsong pastor Brian Houston had this to say:

SPEAK, WE’RE LISTENING – is a declaration that we are indeed, listening.Like Samuel, the LORD has come many times, spoken many times and (hopefully) had our response many times, but this is an eternal conversation that involves not only personal relationship, but also the wellbeing and salvation of others. In the midst of a world saturated with voices and noise, the Voice we long for is His … “Speak Lord, we’re listening” is perfect language and a perfect stance for what lies ahead

John MacArthur has this to say about the Word of Faith movement:

Faith according to Word of Faith doctrine is not submissive trust in God. It is not belief in revealed revelation in the scripture. Faith is a formula by which you manipulate the universe, by which you manipulate things.

Of course Rick Warren isn’t held accountable by any form of leadership in his own denomination, the Southern Baptist Convention. His influence is growing at an exponential rate. Rick Warren regularly lines up with heretical teachers, including Roman Catholics, and Word of Faith preachers. In fact, it’s not the first time he’s aligned himself with this same crowd, at the same conference, when he shared the stage with Steven Furtick.

As much as I would like to quote 2 Cor 6:14, you know, the verse about not being unequally yoked with unbelievers, it would be pointless. Rick Warren is one of them, yet he’s revered as a great pastor and prominent figure within evangelicalism, and the Southern Baptist Convention. It would be more appropriate to quote this verse as it relates to any evangelical’s association with Warren. Any self-respecting, bible-believing Christian should disassociate from Rick Warren, and his church altogether, and call him to repentance. Therefore, I will end with these quotes from 2 Tim 4:3-4 instead:

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths,

and Jude 1:4:

For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

[Editor’s Note: It’s probably not surprising Warren would speak with Word-of-Faith antinomian, Joseph Prince. It’s probably equally bad, at this point, that a Word-of-Faith antinomian would preach with Rick Warren]
